Lights Out..

Whilst I was out visiting one of our sellers Louise yesterday afternoon all the electricity went down in our street... I came back to a pitch black house and had to collect all my gorgeous smelling candles and light them all at once..

Oh it was so decadent, my house smelt divine and the kids ate dinner by candle light with no TV for over an hour...bliss sheer, bliss. We of course declared we should do this more regularly and I know we won't but it was nice whilst it lasted. As one of my neighbours said...it was glamorous camping...Glamping!!

I am grateful I don't live in a world with none of the mod cons but at the same time I think I could relish the simplicity....

Linking up over here too xx

  4. loving the candle light....it does make us all stop & slow down a little. Great collection of candles you have there....makes me think I should have some for that 'just in case' or to actually use like you said.

  5. Oh, I think you should light all those pretties regularly! How beautiful! x

(We have frequent black outs at our place. I don't know why - we live in the suburbs, not the bush. But, I kinda like it. Or I would if the kids would go to sleep in the dark and didn't insist that a black out means we all hang out until the light is restored and they can go to bed... the irony!)

  6. There is nothing more beautiful than a house full of candles and lights out. Thank you for sharing. We do candles on Friday night. The house is clean, tidy, the lads are in bed, and it's just me and candles, oh, some music, and usually a bubble bath. xx

Yes we had the same thing, well being only a few streets away from you, that's not surprising. But although I was a little panicked at first having just moved in here and having no candles and only one torch in the house, it was quite fun giving the kids a bath and dinner by the light of that one torch, and certainly made me appreciate the mods cons when they work. My friends and the family in the blustery Southern Highlands have had power cuts that have lasted four days and in the middle of winter that's not much. So the brief 90 mins we had was a bit of a novelty.
