When did you start your business and how did it come about?
Lou's Shoes began in 2010 after I traveled to Australia to attend a shoemaking course. Sweet and simple, baby shoes seemed like the perfect way to begin my foray into the shoemaking world.
Why did you choose your business name?
Well, my name rhymes with 'Shoe'. It wasn't a hard decision to make!
What have you most enjoyed in your career so far?
I've really enjoyed engaging directly with customers through the internet. A lot of Lou's Shoes are bought as gifts and treats, so I get a lot of excited emails that I get a real thrill from reading.
Have you had any major highlights, personal or business in the last few years?
Lou's Shoes has allowed me to develop my adult shoemaking skills. In January I will be hosting a Luna Boots shoemaking course from my newly-completed shoe workshop in NZ. I couldn't be more pleased!!
What inspires or motivates you? and lastly tell me one things about yourself that you love but has nothing to do with business..
Children's illustration. At the moment I'm loving Yoko Furusho's illustration. And when I'm not making or dreaming shoes I love watching costume dramas!.Which probably isn't that far removed from shoe design, but I did say I dreamt shoes!
