For the love of eating : Pumpkin Pie

Today we are handing it over to the beautiful Robin from Robin Gage Designs.

Not only is she one talented and creative woman, she also makes a mean pumpkin pie!

I'll definitely be giving this one a go! ::

My children have discovered pumpkin pie. I have discovered that being 85% health food (not an official stat, just my opinion) it's the perfect dinner! It's like a spinach milkshake decanted into a MacDonald's cup... or something. The following is a recipe for a whinge free dinner.

Recipe found here.
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbl cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 1/2 cup pureed pumpkin
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cup evaporated milk
Pre heat oven to 425 degrees (210) Line pie plate with crust. Chill the crust in the fridge while you make the filling. Combine all the ingredients together using a beater. Pour the mixture into the pastry and bake for 40 minutes. You want the pie to be firm to the touch but not too brown.
I have baked just the filling in individual ramekins for the gluten free pie lovers in the family. They come out like little pumpkin pie souffle's! You will need to adjust the time though.
So do yourself a favour and make pie for dinner. While you're at it, get dessert done as well and put a scoop of ice cream on top. It will blow your kids minds.

Pinterest Picks : Let's get married... again

I've been married for over 2 years now.  I was married just before Pinterest came along.  And let me just say, that as much as I loved our wedding day and I wouldn't change it for the world, now thanks to Pinterest, I would happily do it all over again with a few additions (the groom most definitely stays the same though!).  Maybe a 10 year vow renewal is in order!

: do you see me ? thats my Mum and Dad at around 25.. I have always blamed my Dad for my jet black hair but now I see I had no hope!

: you would probably think it odd that my husbands anniversary from myself would be home decor items of such a pretty nature and that he would be over the moon with them but you see, I married well, found myself a keeper

: we have no need for alarm clocks in our house, the small people climbing in and snuggling at 6.45 each morning tends to make you stir from a slumber so when we woke at 7.15 on Friday we knew something was up.. camping was up, duvets, baskets, chairs and teddies were up. I even left it all up until bed as it made me smile so

: obi is the oldest dog with the puppiest tendencies, during the day he goes from cuddles to snores over a 10 second window in 20 minute rotations but give him a ball and he has the agility of a 1 year old and  the look of the naughtiest youngster.. oh how I love him so..

: how is it a week or so from winter when I head out for a run in a long sleeve and have to strip to a crop top half way and grab this picture?

: hendricks, hendricks oh where art thou hendricks.. totally addicted

For the love of eating : Sultana Cake

This recipe is a good one.  We've been using it in my family for years.  It's great for kids, is stays moist for days, has no added sugar and freezes well.  Win!

It requires:
2 cups cold strong black tea (I used three tea bags)
2 cups sultanas (we probably used slightly more, as we are big tana fans)
2 cups wholemeal self-raising flour
2 eggs
Easy, huh!

Mix tea and sultanas and allow to soak for 2-3 hours (you could soak overnight if you wished).  I kept the tea bags in the soaking mixture during this time.

Add beaten egg and flour.

Pour into a greased and lined loaf tin.  Bake at 200C for 45 minutes.

Serve with a scraping of cream cheese (or ricotta) and a nice cup of tea or milk.

The above is the original recipe, but today I also had two very ripe bananas I needed to use so I mashed them up and put them in at the same time as the flour and eggs.

The recipe also makes a fairly large loaf.  You could easily half the quantities for a smaller loaf.

And as you can see from the little hands, it's a great one for the little ones to help with.

We'd love to hear what you think!

Pinterest Picks : Going Green

I am drawn to all things green lately.  Every time I pick a new piece of stationary, or a new piece of clothing - there is a shade of green in there somewhere.  They say that green is the colour of balance and growth.  Perhaps that rings true.  Or maybe I just long to be outdoors.

Either way, I'm going a little ga-ga over green.

Q&A with our Giveaway

How did your Business come about?
Happy as Larry came about after I had finished art teaching to have children and wanted to find 100% wool felt to make some storage cubes for their rooms. Unable to find the felt I was after in Australia I sourced the felt from Nepal. With great feedback from friends I started to sell my products at markets and online. Soon realising I couldn't keep up with production, the Nepalese offered to make my designs for me. Since visiting Nepal and and meeting the ladies who make my designs I fell in love with the place and plan to have another trip real soon.

Is there a story behind the name?
One of our family favourite sayings for our oldest son - He is always laughing. The saying evokes such joy, exactly what I wanted my brand to convey.

What do you get up to when you are not working?
Ha! not working now thats a hard question! - I have just got back into painting after a long break and loving having some down time in the studio, that is not business related. My boys and I like to get out, go on long walks and rides. Now that they are a bit older we love to go hiking as a family down the south of WA.

I know it is hard but can you name your favourite item in your collection?
Would still have to be the Original Larry Rug in the largest size. It packs a punch, is such fun and so versatile for any room in the house.

Do you have a wishlist on DTLL? What are your top two at the mo?
My wish list is just too large. We are in the middle of sprucing up our alfresco and  garden so my favourite  top two would have to be

These Ottomans - love their prints.

Yellow is my fave colour - so would love this hammock
