Who cares about the numbers?

Whilst I was judging #fmsphotoaday I spent a fair amount more time than I usually do on Instagram.. I suggested last week that it opened my eyes to the good and bad.

The good on Instagram has always been good, the support and community is quite fabulous and just the fact that so many people connect through visual art is for me a magical thing..

The thing that saddened me was something that probably more angered me.. its not a biggy but I just couldn't understand why you would do it?

In photography games be it #fmsphotoaday #7vignettes #weekof... #everydaystyle all those fun tag alongs.. the idea is you use your own content so when someone steals an image it just seems dumb (especially if the owner of the comp then shares it as so good and they get found out) or if the image IS yours why use the hashtag of the game if you don't want to be part of it or have in regrammed?

I suppose it is just like the twitter/fb/pinterest etc platform when everyone appears to be polarised by their numbers so they are looking to gain numbers. I totally found new people to follow via the hashtags so yes it works but do you want people following you if  you have no connection?

I saw some total glamour girls tagging themselves in on some very inappropriate hashtags and I just find the need for numbers so weird #followforfollow WTF?!

I have focused DTLL numbers on pure quality and never quantity as it means we are speaking to the right people, who wants to spend time chatting to someone who doesn't want to listen?!

Anywho, rant over I just wonder if someone can explain the need?

Win a Gorgeous Mini Masterpiece From Zonkt

Congratulations to Rachel N

Kids don't stay kids forever and their little brains get moulded by the people and things around them.. the one thing that they do in the early days is express them self through drawing.

I love that they paint in their colour of choice for that phase in their life, that suddenly colouring between the lines becomes possible and even a priority, they draw what they dream and it their personalities are undeniable in those depictions.

Zonkt Design gives you the ability to immortalise these passing phases in a manageable way (lets face it a filing cabinet full of artwork is never going to be seen and is a waste of space). Kim takes those artworks, shrink wraps them with love which just happens to make them look even more loveable and then frames it up for you to display proudly somewhere other than the front of the fridge.

You can see the full range of options here

As always we are collaborating with one of our divine blogging family Bron from Maxabella Loves to giveaway one lucky person the opportunity to create their own Mini Masterpiece in the size of their choice..

Such a Fabulous Four..

I had an amazing time judging #fmsphotaday I found a whole host of people to follow that have a feed that makes me melt with every image. I learnt even more about the Instagram Community (good and bad.. will write a post about that another day).

I adored making the grids as it was so fun to share the love even though each and every day I found there were about 3/4 people that always made my top ten!

fete // holiday

There was something about the quality, something about the photography and quite simply something that sang to my totally aesthetically driven soul yet budget conscious mind and had it skip a beat when Fete Press began..

The other month the divine creators held one of their fabulous pop up restaurants at The School and they stood by their ethics that beautiful can be made from easy styling and just keeping things simple..

We wore Winter Whites..

Do you read Fete Press?

It just makes me cry so hard..

This week reading about Robin Williams passing had my crying big gloopy fat tears.

Yes  it is because he was so well loved and so bloody funny.
Yes it was because he took his own life.
and yes it was just because loosing anyone talented (or not even) is sad..

Really it was because when I read of anyone who suffers from depression as a mental illness I feel their pain.
So many of us suffer through what he suffered and I have been there too.
Depression breaks down all barriers, it can get to anyone, whoever you are..
This week shows that no matter how much you earn, how famous you are or even how brilliant you are at laughing through it all, depression can still find you.

I cry so hard because it scares me so much.
The idea that you could feel so bad inside you would prefer not to be where you are on the outside is paralysing to me, it makes me so utterly sad
I am lucky to say I have not experienced true darkness and it breaks my heart to think that others do.

Please be kind to each other, love each other and most of all love yourself

If you ever need help it is just here at Beyond Blue or Black Dog or Sane.. there are lots of people out there with open arms...

Pastel Pretties...

Like the look of these? then you may like the collection I put together for Mums Grapevine the other week :)

What is your colour of choice of late?

Let it be..

Liebster Award

That lovely little minx over at Sonia Styling tagged we with a Liebster Award.. a what you say? The Liebster Award is given to blogs by other bloggers to say they think you are pretty sweet, to promote others and just generally share the love.

She has given me 10 questions to answer so here goes..

Which song do you consider your Personal Anthem and why?
Oh dear I am afraid this shows how you can change and age so much but sometimes certain things just stay put, my music taste is stuck back from my late teens to mid twenties. I don't have a personal anthem but bring my dark dirty drum 'n' bass and I flood with happy memories of my brother on a microphone, long London nights and hubby and I sharing the start of our life together

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?
It has to be my husband being kind enough to not only take on the stress of being the sole breadwinner in our family when we had two young children but also trusting and backing me to invest the savings we had in DTLL. I am grateful everyday to have him by my side

If you could only wear one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Khaki for sure, I am still a Tomboy at heart and its a fab colour with anything, suits my skin tone all year long and is not too dark for daywear whilst looking stunning at night

If you were invisible, where would you go?
It should be somewhere silly like David Beckhams bathroom huh?!

You’ve just won the lottery. What would be your first money-is-no-object indulgent purchase?
A holiday house with chef and cleaner. I assume I am still me and currently that would mean that work must go on so whilst I lust after a holiday I would adore to remove my family and I to a luxury pad with no chores and some fab food for some R&R..

What are you famous for in your group of friends?
Training too much, being a multi tasker, taking lots of photos, loving dogs, having a mild OCD issues and lucky enough to have married a keeper.

What is the one thing that should be taught in school that isn’t already?
Photography.. some schools I am sure offer it as an option I am sure but life through a lens is a different view for everyone at different stages but it is always a time to reflect, tap into your creativity whilst never really being right or wrong

Which restaurant would you most like to dine at – anywhere in the world?
Easy Heston  Blumenthal's Fat Duck in the UK, I will go next year for sure x

If you were a cocktail, which one would you be and why?
I can only be a Hendricks... add it to anything and I love it... that said a champagne cocktail is a fave of mine..
Nah I am a Bloody Mary.. Heathy Base with a Naughty Sidekick :)

How do you want to be remembered?
As loyal and dedicated.
I like to think that I am as I often get hurt by others when I assume my loyalty is reciprocated and then finding it is not.
My dedication could either be seen as passion or stubbornness, it is both but I hope it is remembered as dedication

Genuine connections make me quite emotional, I have never been one for chasing friendships. People come and go and some of my strongest bonds are those I have made on line.

I often have to read my favourite bloggers posts in a block of a fortnight at a go due to lack of time and today whilst at work with Sonia she said did you see the wonderful words Chantelle wrote about you?.. Um No? what tha?

So off I pottered and BEYOND humbled is what I was...

Chantelle said...

'Tessa White is such an inspiration to me. I like the way she thinks, and how she is so loving and nurturing towards the people in her business. With a lot of people online I see only dollar signs in their eyes, but with Tessa I see passion and doing things her own way. I like that.'

Thank you Chantelle, not just for such sweet words but for seeing what I genuinely feel. It means so much to me to hear that someone can see what I feel... humbing, truly touched.

Do you often wonder if people can see what you feel?

Do you know how to train your Dragon?

Kitty turned 7 the other week and the ever proud Tomboy chose this for the theme of her party.. I loved the movie so was happily game on!

The viking ships were hot dogs, dragon eggs/ grapes, battle axes/ vanilla wafers with paper blades, catapults/ mini caramel toffee apples, dragon cakes/ banana loafs with sour strap cut spines, viking hats/ choc coated marshmallow cakes and dragon juice/ pineapple juice with a drop of food colouring..

Kitty's cake was a Toblerone Cheesecake with Crunchie topping.. Easey Peasey.

and last up I made some roaring flames as a bit of a fun photo prop...

as expected the the adults had the most fun...

So that was my 'How to train your Dragon Party'.. a hellish Friday of prep followed by a hilarious Saturday of fun...

Do you do themed parties? are you wiser and do them every 2 years unlike me?
