Shibori give me moreeee...

Dickhead title but man could I be addicted.. I bought my gorgeous girlfriend and business partner Kate an experience for her B Day and of course experiences are not much unless shared so got myself a ticket too..

We went to the workshop at The School by Joanna Fowles I have always wanted to go to a workshop there and this was the first time I have treated myself to one.. Oh boy did it deliver. Not only do you get to be hands on but the people you are there with are equally as excited as yourself and so much fun to be around..

I have more little bits to show you but will do that at a later date.. we dyed leather, silk and even my duvet cover so I will share those once made into cushions and on my bed etc :)

Kate and I have decided from this point forwards all gifts must be experiences shared ones if possible but experiences either way.. and no not spa stuff but learning and growing ones.

What do you give your besties for their B days? Have you been to The School?

There is something that possibly ranks higher than love for me and that is loyalty.. true loyalty is born from an unconditional love, a connection that has you want to ride out any ups and downs that life chucks at you to ensure that person stays in your life and is the happiest you can make them given any circumstance.

I am a fiercely loyal person. I take attacks on my friends to heart like they were my own. When my friends are upset I stress about them and when they are just not right I worry about them until I see them smile again.

I would drop anything and go anywhere for a friend in need and I am lucky enough to have a husband that gets that and would do just the same.

I wrote a post a while back about how it is ok to loose friend ships and I still stand by the fact that it is but I do think that if the friendship was true that you would want to fight for it, you would want to work through it and pop out the other side stronger.

It was my birthday this week and there were a few well wishes missing since last year due to lost connections. It could have made me sad but it didn't. I feel so lucky to have had the ones that were not loyal enough to fight fall by the way side leaving me with the quality people to surround myself with.

I always have an amazing reflective day on big occasions as they are yearly and you can really look back at where you were 12 months before and compare. I choose to always find the good in the year and lets just leave the shitty past bits as in the past.. 'cos they are shit so no need to take them forward into the future huh?!

Are you a loyal friend? Has it stung you? Do you reflect much?

The people that make you want to be a better person....

The other day I was over on Kontent Blog sharing my favourite link right now and this was it...

Tessa White Chooses Her Favourite Link

This is the instagram account of Mark Bustos, a hairdresser to the stars who works 6 days a week and then on Sundays goes out to the streets and offers homeless people a haircut. He simply says to each person,‘I want to do something nice for you today’.

His feed reminds me of H.O.N.Y but I find it even more uplifting, as the responses from those that he touches are always positive and his haircuts are amazing; they truly transform the person and I have no doubt it works as much on the inside as it does on the outer.

Who would ever guess this guy was homeless?'

What will you do today to make someone feel special?

So Mum are you angry with her?

Do you ever have days where you have to explain the unexplainable to your kids? I did the other day..

I come home from a day with my little lady and we see a package on the deck.. Kitty hops across and shouts.. ‘it says Totally Hooked Mum’..’ What?’ “ Are you sure?”..

I go to investigate and start muttering ‘oh she is so silly’ ‘ thats naughty’ ‘so unnecessary’ ‘quite ridiculous’

“What Mum?’

“Oh sorry Kitty, you know that lovely lady we met at the markets the other day that you bought your neon basket from?’ she nods.. ‘Well Mummy has been sorting out some business cards for her last week and she has delivered this beautiful basket to say Thank you’

'So Mum are you angry with her? Why are you angry if she is saying Thank you?’

‘Because she is too nice sweetheart, I am not angry just amazed at how lovely she is and saying she is naughty because she has done something nice she need not have done’

* Cue confused face and about 50 more questions as she followed me around the house whilst I moved everything around so I could have it pride of place in my favourite vignette spot!

Its a funny thing to explain to my kids why I admire the things I do in people or why I someone who outwardly appears amazing is really not all that but it is one I enjoy as it has us discussing people and their inner beauty instead of the outer that so often gets spoken about more..

Do you chat with your kids about what really make someone beautiful?

Parkour.. do you even know what it is?

I have kids that are just like me.. short tempered, very grumpy if bored and need to get active often to ensure decent sleep (good thing they have my hubby involved in their DNA as he adds the good stuff)

We all love to watch TV and as I am a little over re runs of Toy Story, Cars and the rest we have developed a few new areas of viewing over the last year or so that works for all of us and has become a new area of conversation and activities..

One is cooking shows and the other is action sports, all 4 of us curl up and compare over what we think of the dishes and how they would taste or who we think will come out fastest/on top during an endurance race or event.

One of the shows we are mad about is American Ninja Warrior and as a result of it being about mastering random obstacles our house was becoming a little assault course each morning. The common theme amongst competitors was that they have a gymnastic base or partake in parkour so one night I decided to see what was available locally to harness our kids climbing monkey abilities and maybe point them in a more useful direction.

What is Parkour?

Parkour is ' a holistic training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training. People aim to get from A to B in the most efficient way possible. They do this using only their bodies and their surroundings to propel themselves

Enter AAPES.

We rocked up the next morning and the kids had a ball being taught how to go with the flow and move more like our primates, how they can clamber a wall up high without just using the upper body, how to fall and roll without damaging your bones and how to clear an obstacle without hardly touching it!.

We enjoyed it so much I wanted to share as it seems such a great way to have the kids active but being safe whilst having some serious fun..

Have you tried Parkour? Had you even heard of it?

Life Lately..

It has been ages since I did one of these.. and as much as my life never changes much things do certainly progress..

*It doesn't happen often but lunch with the girls is something that restores the soul and as Cherie came to stay for 3 days the other week we had a good excuse to ensure we took her out.

*The Cult List is my new brand I have created with Kate, it is all about small collections of home, fashion and jewels that we will release via our Insta or FB.

*I have written a separate post about the kids and their Parkour but lets just say it is certainly not wearing off

*Dex is growing up, he is a very loving pup and I think my only challenge as he ages will be his intelligence and keep up with his activeness

*I had my old phoenix covered up with a bigger and better version, it was 5 hours and a test at times but with only a few tail feathers to finish I am pretty in love

*As ever I have been picking new flowers and learning more as I go.. how pretty in that little weed Lantana..

*I went to Pro Blogger on the GC. It was lovely to catch up with so many other bloggers but I truly think they need to demand everyone arrives a day before hand and stay 1 day after so you get more time to socialise as I missed so many people!!

What have you all been up too?

Our World..
